Roberton Mains cottage is ideally situated for exploring central southern Scotland. The Pentland Hills and the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders are all within sight and easy travelling distance.

Visit New Lanark – World Heritage Centre award winner, and the Falls of Clyde. Explore the wonderful new museum at Biggar, sample some of the best ice cream in Scotland, visit the Puppet Theatre and play-park, or have a round of golf. There are several golf courses in the area.

Stroll along Peebles High Street with its varied shops, have a swim in the lovely swimming pool by the River Tweed, explore Scotland’s oldest inhabited house at Traquair; or expend more energy tackling the world famous mountain bike trails at Glentress or indoors at the Gytes Leisure Centre.

Visit Edinburgh and Glasgow, both centres of cultural and architectural interest befitting cities of their status, and both with excellent shopping centres. The world-renowned Rosslyn Chapel is a short 20 minute drive away in the village of Roslin. For a quieter town, try Moffat, with its boating pond and putting green, or the conservation village of West Linton close by. All types of outdoor activities and country pursuits are widely available throughout the area. Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Tweed Valley, or head north and cross the Forth Road Bridge into Fife, or perhaps go westwards to Loch Lomond. Dolphinton is well positioned for day trips in all directions.
